Benjamin Bok has won the OK Gouda 2026 chess tournament and thereby also the Ab Scheel challenge trophy. Benjamin scored 6 points out of 7 games, the same as Liam Vrolijk, so they shared the money prizes.
The OK Gouda tournament had this year no less than 159 participants. Adding to this the 174 participants of the youth tournament makes clear that this day was a big success for the organizing chess club Messemaker 1847. This was also true from a sporting perspective: Messemaker president and tournament director Jan Evengroen scored very well in the strong A group with an eighth place (better than some grandmasters) and Messemaker member Frans Bottenberg became the winner of the B group.
